Welcome and Style Guide

I’m so looking forward to meeting you and capturing your family here in the Cotswolds during your stay.

We are documenting your family in the gorgeous village of Lower Slaughter, Cotswolds UK.

Location & Session Info:

Date: Saturday 23 May 2026

Time: 08:00am

Address: Copsehill Rd, Lower Slaughter, Cheltenham GL54 2HR

Parking: There is a small amount of parking opposite St Mary's Church, spaces are right next to the river.

Meeting Point: I will meet you by St Mary's Church bench (pictured). I will have my camera around my neck and a beige camera bag on my back.

What to expect:

We’ll gently meander into the heart of the village, chatting as we go and pausing along the way for photos. We will then take a short 10 minute walk into the English Countryside.

I’ll guide you with soft prompts throughout, allowing moments to unfold naturally and capturing beautiful, relaxed images of you and your family.

What to bring:

A small rucksack with some water and somewhere to put your phones. I will ask you to remove them from pockets before the session, they can be distracting visually if slotted into pockets and I also want this session to be a 'unplugged' memory where you are all 'in the moment'.

A hairbrush for quick hair refreshes if needed.

Small amount of make up for top ups where required.

Quick Tips:

Remove distracting hair bobbles from wrists.

Avoid wearing smart watches (sports or connected to phone type)

Add subtle jewellery, nothing too distracting,

Style Guide:

Taking the time to plan outfits for a photoshoot isn’t just about looking “nice”, it directly affects how your photos turn out and how you feel in them years later. In a place like the Cotswolds, where the setting is naturally beautiful and understated, we want outfit choices that elevate the whole image.

My biggest tip would be to start with the most difficult person to dress, lay out the clothes and then build all the other outfits around it and make sure you are happy with the final cohesive look.

Colours: I advise you to wear, warm neutrals such as cream, beige, soft tan (to match the stone) with some fresh tones such as sage and dusty blue to match the English Countryside fields with at least

one soft accent such as blush pink or a very subtle floral pattern. This will prevent you all looking washed out in the village or too contrasting in the fields.

Outfit Ideas & Inspiration:

For you April I would suggest a Cream-based floral dress (tiny print, not bold) or soft blush dress. If you are not a dress person, a blouse of the same colour will also be fine paired with light blue denim.

Accompany this with a light coloured knit (if wearing jeans) or a denim jacket with the dress. in terms of footwear I advise neutral flats or ankle boots.

Marc,  a light blue or soft white shirt (linen if possible) with beige or tan chinos and brown or neutral shoes

Taylor, Cream/ivory top (linen, knit, or soft cotton) with a light beige or tan trousers/skirt with an optional soft knit or light jacket

Katie, a Sage green dress or sage top and cream trousers/skirt with a light cardigan and neutral trainers/shoes not bright white

Izzy,  a dusty blue or light denim shirt/top with beige/cream bottoms and an optional overshirt or knit layer.

Remember: Avoid dark clothing such as black, big distracting logos or large prints and any item of clothing or footwear that are stark white.

Ask yourself: Does anything jump out too much? Do at least 2–3 people share similar tones? Would this still look good in 5–10 years? If yes, you’re in a very good place.

I appreciate this can feel overwhelming at first but really setting aside some time to get outfits right will make a huge difference. If you are unsure or want to send me some outfit choices you have planned please Whatsapp me on (+44) 07464 761069 or pop me an email with some pictures.

Finally...

The main thing to do on the day is to enjoy the session, it will last up to 90 minutes and be a great time to connect as a family. This will be a memory and I feel so privileged to be chosen to document it for you.

The Slaughters Country Inn does some great food and drink for after your session. They also have an 'alfresco' van where you can get light bites.

Lower Slaughter is close to Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold, both beautiful places to visit.

Please Note: The signal can be patchy around the Cotswolds, if you are trying to get hold of me, keep trying until there is better signal.
